The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS) is committed to upholding the privacy of its website users. This privacy statement explains how we use your personal information.
Our website uses a small number of cookies, which are text files that identify your computer to our server. They enable us to provide you with the information you have requested, and also enable you to use the website's interactive tools. You have the ability to set you computer to accept all cookies, to notify you when a cookie is offered (and subsequently accept or reject it), or to block all cookies. Notification will allow you to see what is being stored and when it will expire. Blocking cookies will mean that you are unable to use certain areas of the website.
RCAHMS compiles logs of all visits to the website, using the standard server facilities. They provide us with usage data, including the source address of page requests (your IP address or domain name), the date and time of page requests, any referring websites, and other parameters such as your search criteria. We use this data to better understand the use of the website and to seek future improvements.
We may also collect personal information about you through any forms that you may complete, or through emails you may send us. We use this data to answer your enquiries and to provide you with requested information. We will not share this information with any third parties without your consent, unless we are obliged or permitted to do so by law. We will ensure that all personal information is held in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.
Disclaimer
Information in the Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland is the opinion of the RCAHMS, and does not necessarily reflect that of any other persons or organisations. No criticism of building owners is intended.
In particular, the state of risk is based upon a visual external inspection of the building, and is not a technical, structural, or financial appraisal.
Given the parameters within which the Buildings at Risk Service operates, the task of ensuring that all the information on the Register is accurate and up-to-date is immense. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that information is correct, erroneous or inaccurate information will inevitably appear from time to time. If information is reported as inaccurate, the Buildings at Risk Service will alter or remove it as soon as is practicable.
Further comprehensive information on our rights and responsibilities see terms and conditions.
