Description

Rubble, with long sides east and west. Near centre door in west elevation; blocked winnowing door; 3 pairs jointed crucks; flagged floor.

Laidhay crofted by Bethune family from 1842-1968. Established and furnished as Caithness Croft Museum circa 1976. (Historic Environment Scotland List Entry)

23 February 2024: Desk-based assessment using photographs and information provided by HES Survey & Recording. The barn, forming part of the Laidhay museum has been subject to a partial collapse of the thatched roof, and the rear wall. Security fencing has been erected around the structure.
