Description

Section of a 18th century rectangular plan walled garden encased in early 19th century exterior walls with service buildings. Abutting high N wall of walled garden, and facing kitchen garden. Slightly advanced bay to E raised in gabled dormer with doorway; 16 bays to right with similarly advanced doorway to W end and with one doorway widened. 12-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows to W row of buildings with polygonal ashlar and brick stacks at ridge. Grey slates and some asbestos roofing.

Currently (1987) unused but evidently of grandeur and extensive variety in 19th century. Roxburgh archive records mason's account for hot-house, ice house, sundial, peach house and repairing kennels, building gate pillars and repairing deer park dyke in 1810-12, probably referring to works at Broxmouth Park.
