Description

Detatched former smithy (behind Post Office) contains a well preserved forge. Large estate smithy built for shoeing horses and making/ repairing the estate's ironmongery. Substantial rubble constructed building with two massive chimneys for the smiths' hearths. (SCRAN)

May 2009: External inspection suggests the building is disused. Much of the glazing is broken and the boundaries are overgrown.
July 2011: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit. The building is entirely disused.
16 August 2018: Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for interlinking of the smiddy and smiddy cottage, and conversion into a dwelling ref: 18/01042/FUL & 18/01043/LBC.
8 February 2024: Property continues to be marketed for sale.
