Description
Long 2 and 3-storey range forming L-plan with 3 and 4 Castle Place. Rubble with sandstone ashlar dressings and shopfront. Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate pitched roof, gabled to SE, piended to NW. Coped skews to SE and on party wall. Brick gablehead stack, 2 brick ridge stacks, capped tympany gable to right on NE elevation. Development History
May 2009: External inspection finds the building appears sound, but there is considerable dampness on walls and the gutters are blocked or broken. There appears to be plant growth on the inside pane of a window.
23 October 2012: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit.
11 June 2015: The property is being marketed for sale as a development opportunity through appointed agents Your Move.
7 June 2016: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously. The property does not appear to be under marketing for sale at this time.
28 August 2020: A member of the public advises the range was sold through auction in early 2020.
3 November 2021: Listed building consent (21/00543/LBC) and planning permission (21/00542/FULL) being sought for downtaking of some internal partitions and replacement of modern windows. Formation of new vehicular access including provision of gates in boundary wall.
31 May 2023: A member of the public reports the property is being marketed for sale as a development opportunity through agents, Yopa. Offers over £90,000 are being sought.
8 February 2024: According to Yopa website, the property has been sold.
