Description
Lane plan laid out by W H Playfair 1819, construction began early 1820s. Long straight mews lane with 2-storey terraced rectangular-plan buildings to both sides; accessed through a basket-arched pend from Montgomery Street; cobbled with central gully. Predominantly squared snecked / coursed rubble with droved margins. Predominantly irregular fenestration.
Nos 9-11: 4-bay; to ground floor, 2-leaf timber-boarded doors to 1st, 2nd and 4th bays form left; timber-boarded door to 3rd bay from left; to 1st floor, to outer left bay, opening blocked with stone to bottom and timber to top; to 3rd bay from left, timber-boarded opening. Development History
18 April 2018: A member of the public nominates the building for the Register as disused and in deteriorating condition. The felted roof covering has been lost, exposing the sarking which in turn is decaying. Buddleia is growing within the stonework. For Investigation.
25 October 2020: External inspection finds this mews building vacant, disused and in Very Poor condition. Windows and doors are missing, exposing the interior to the elements. The felt roofing material is damaged, as are the roof timbers. Holes in the roof also exposing the building to the elements. There are vegetation growths protruding from cracks in the masonry and mortar joints throughout the structure. Some biological growths on the masonry as a result of water ingress. Debris covers the grounds and boundaries. Rainwater goods missing. Heras fencing secures access to the property. Moved to At Risk.
