Development History
5 October 1991: Press reports note that the Meldrum House Estate has been placed on the market. 1993: The Estate is purchased by the Meldrum House Estates consortium. 4 February 1994: The Inverurie Advertiser reports on the proposed development of the grounds at Meldrum House Hotel. May 1996: External inspection reveals the home farm to be run down and threatened with dereliction. The owners of the nearby Meldrum House Hotel have Planning Permission for conversion into 4 dwellings as part of a wider leisure development. However, local planners report that the scheme is presently in abeyance. August 2001: External inspection reveals no change. The farm is being used for storage. January 2004: Local planners report that the home farm is still used for storage, though it in included in a recent application for the extension of the hotel. November 2007: External inspection reveals buildings to be largely vacant, unsecured and in very poor condition, vulnerable to accelerating dilapidation if not made wind and watertight.
17 October 2013: External inspection finds a significant area of loss of slating and plant growth to wallheads are a serious issue. The buildings are not watertight and are not secured. Full Planning Permission for Erection of 6 Dwellinghouses, Alterations, Extension and Change of Use of Steading to Form Dwellinghouse and Alterations and Change of Use of Steading/Kennels to Form Dwellinghouse was conditionally approved Oct 2012 ref: APP/2011/4224
12 November 2019: Consent to form ancillary domestic accommodation within the former kennels is being sought (APP/2019/2305 & APP/2019/2306) an adjacent steading building is proposed for demolition, as is the construction of 3 new build dwellings. Supporting documents within the application note the local planning authority has assessed the kennels as being curtilage listed.
13 September 2021: Listed building consent (APP/2021/2085) being sought for conversion of existing building to form dwellinghouse.
