Description
2 storey corner building with rounded angles and black painted window margins. The building is reported to retain the remains of a thatched roof under the current slate roof. Attached to the left on Dunlop Street is a slightly higher 2 storey building constructed in rubble to the ground floor and brick to the first floor.

Development History
November 1997: External inspection reveals the building to be boarded-up and deteriorating. The attached building to the left on Dunlop Street is in an even worse state of repair. January 2000: Local planners are unaware of any change. February 2004: Local planners report that the building is in local authority ownership. January 2005: Ayrshire Architectural Heritage Trust reports that it is in correspondance with East Ayrshire Council over taking the lead in the refurbishment of the buildings. 6 May 2005: The Kilmarnock Standard reports that East Ayrshire Council remains committed to progressing the building's renovation.
January 2010: Local planner reports that planning permission and listed building consent was granted in April 2009 for a facade retention scheme and erection of a retail centre behind with food and drink centre and hotel and public bar premises. No work has yet started on site.
5 November 2014: External inspection finds the building has shored up with scaffolding.
16 June 2015: Local planners advise 1-3 Dunlop Street is planned for demolition.
22 September 2016: A member of the public notes demolition works are underway at the site. Listed Building Consent for the demolition of No 3 Dunlop Street was conditionally approved Feb 2016 ref: 15/0927/LB.
16 November 2020: A member of the public notes the demolition works, as noted previously, have been completed with the site now occupied by a new build. The remaining corner building is currently roofless and supported by scaffolding. It is unclear whether wider site works are imminent.
