Description

2-storey rubble with chapel at upper floor, round headed windows of Victorian date inserted in gable, James Maclaren & Son.

Development History
May 1998: The chapel has sat vacant for a number of years, and has consequently been the target of vandals. Some of the windows are now boarded up. SCT understands that the building is now under offer. August 2000: The chapel remains for sale. November 2003: Local planners report that tentative approaches have been made with regards to redevelopment but no formal applications have been submitted as yet. May 2005: Local planners report that building warrants for conversion were granted in December 2004.and April 2005. Planning Permission has also been granted for conversion into 2 residential units. May 2006: Aberdeen Press and Journal report that PP has been granted to convert the upper floor to a furniture store.
January 2009: External inspection finds the church to remain vacant. The greatest deterioration is to the window frames. There is also damage to the molded stonework and some stones have been lost.
29 October 2012: External inspection finds no significant change from the previus site visit.
21 June 2016: External inspection finds the building remains in mich the same condition as seen previously.
6 April 2020: Listed Building Consent and Planning Permission for internal and external alterations to hall to form 3 dwellings approved subject to conditions in October 2019 (ref: 19/0065/LBC and 19/0069/FULL). Owner of property advises that restoration is underway and the roof has been replaced. Moved to Restoration in Progress.
