Description
Extensive complex of farm offices, presumably contemporary with Milton Lockhart House, now re-erected on Hokkaido Island in Japan. The complex forms a courtyard to the rear, the right wing of which is the former coach house, and the left wing of which incorporates the coachman's house, currently occupied, in good condition, and subsequently not at risk. The central section contains stables and features a crowstepped tower over an arched entrance. The interior retains its stalls, a panelled tack and harness room, a groom's loft, a grain chute, and a former farmworker's dwelling. An extension to the rear incorporates the former kennels and piggery as well as a hayloft and byre. A vaulted room specifically for rearing mushrooms sits under the dwelling.

Development History
June 1993: Though the former coachman's house is well kept and occupied and parts of the complex remain in use as storage and workshop spaces, much of the complex stands empty, unmaintained and derelict. There is evidence of some minor repairs to the roofs. July 1995: No change reported. February 2001: Local planners are unaware of any change.
October 2009: The current owners contacts SCT to note that the estate was purchased by them, from Mr Ian Tennant, in December 2008.
January 2010: External inspection finds this interesting building is suffering from a lack of long-term maintenance, with defective roofs having caused much internal damage. Some repair works have been undertaken recently.
The new owners of the estate have drawn up a proposed management plan for as part of a detailed planning application for the Milton Lockhart Estate ref: (CL/09/0383)lodged in Sept 2009. In the short term, they owners intend to make the building wind and water tight, in the longer term use as residential accomodation, stabling and estate offices.
