Development History
March 1994: External inspection reveals that though part of the complex is in agricultural use, the main front section of the stable block is derelict. January 2002: Permissions are granted for a change of use and alteration to form a dwellinghouse and offices. 8 November 2002: The Herald reports that 565 acres of the Brucklay Estate has been sold to Edinburgh-based Edinmore Properties, who are now marketing the estate for sale in 22 lots. January 2004: Local planners report that the stables have been sold. The new owner will consider the restoration of the stables as part of future plans.
February 2008: External inspection finds that although roofed, the rainwater goods are totally dilapidated and all windows are doors open or unglazed. The property is potentially vulnerable to vandalism and accelerating decay.
June 2010: Applications are lodged for Alterations and Change of Use of Steading at Former Coach House to form One Dwellinghouse and Erection of 3 Dwellinghouses, ref: APP/2010/0551 & APP/2010/0694. SCT generally welcomes the plans to restore the former stables/ coach house, and do not generally object to the enabling development, but suggest further detail on the proposal is required to fully assess its impact.
November 2010: External inspection finds no significan change from the previous site visit. Boarding has now been erected over window openings.
22 October 2013: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for the conversion of the former coach house into a dwelling, with an enabling development of three dwellings, were conditionally approved June 2013ref: APP/2010/0551 & APP/2010/0694.
23 May 2014: A Building Warrant for Conversion of former Coach House to form Dwellinghouse is being sought ref: BW/2014/2116 .
