Following the review of the Buildings at Risk Register the decision has been taken to pause the BARR in order to consider long-term options for its future.
The existing BARR website will remain accessible as a resource, however it will not be updated and we're not accepting nominations for additions to the Register.

Description
Hebridean-type thatched cottage, with byre alongside. COTTAGE: single storey; 3-bay east front with central door; rubble-built slightly battered walls; end stacks; muran thatch roof secured with netting and stone weights over inner wallhead. BYRE: also rubble-built, east-facing door; corrugated-iron gabled roof. Pavement to front; stackyard to rear (west) clearly indicated by raised circular (stone) stack stands. Shown on 1st ed. O.S. Development History
August 1998: External inspection reveals that the cottage remains empty, with its roof collapsed to the right. The byre is now roofless. January 2001: Local planners are unaware of any change.
January 2009: External inspection finds the roofs to have collapsed on both the cottage and byre. The masonry is in very poor condition and may be in danger of full collapse.
March 2010: External inspection finds the buildings remains roofless shells.
6 June 2012: RCAHMS visit the site during fieldwork undertaken as part of the Uist Landscapes Project. Photographs show the building's condition is much the same as when last visited by BAR.
9 June 2015: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously.
