Rare surviving example of a 19th century South Uist watermill, complete with wheel. Appears on the 1st edition (six inch series) OS map as Corn Mill.
One of several new mills built following John Fleming's report on the estate of 1839, which declared its predessor ruinous. Said to have been the last operational mill on the Uists, working up to 1936. (Miers)

Development History
May 1990: External inspection reveals the mill to be partially roofless and in danger of collapse. January 2001: Local planners are unaware of any change. 9 July 2003: The Herald reports on a possible community buyout of the lands and properties of the South Uist Estates.
January 2009: External inspection finds the mills roof to have completely collapsed. The remains of the mill wheel and other equipment is in the mill and the surrounding area.
March 2010: External inspection finds the mill remains a roofless shell, but remarkably intact.
9 June 2015: External inspection finds the building appears stable but overgrown. Much of the original machinery is intact.
