Development History
December 1994: SCT understands the church has stood empty since the 3 surrounding parishes merged. It is now partly boarded up. October 1995: No change reported. September 2006: C of S Law Department report that the church is in fact owned by Trustees for the congregation and that pending some difficulties with the title the property may be available for sale in the future.
November 2009: External inspection finds the church remains redundant, declining slowly. The vegetation growths on the roof are a cause for concern.
June 2011: Church of Scotland website notes property currently under offer.
31 August 2012: External inspection finds new door and window fitted to main elevation with scaffolding erected. An application for change of use of the chapel to a dwelling was lodged, but returned, ref: 12/01182/PP.
19 September 2012: A member of the public advises some repairs have taken place and scaffolding has been erected in part. The church appears to have been sold to a restorer.
15 November 2013: The property is being marketed for sale at auction through Future Property Auctions at a guide price of £48,000+.
6 January 2014: The new owner of the former chapel contacts the Service to note that they recently (Dec 2013) completed the purchase of the property, following its sale through auction. The new owner hopes to commence restoration of the property during 2014-15. The owner reports they visited the property before the sale completed and found a small hole had developed in the roof. The previous owner appeared to have installed some upvc windows and door. The former church has been re-assessed by Historic Scotland and category of listing changed from B to C in 2013.
1 November 2021: A member of the public contacts BARR to advise the windows are boarded up, a new plastic door has been fitted and there is rusted scaffolding on one side of the building.
