Development History
October 1992: Permission is sought for the demolition of the cart shed and byre. SCT objects and permission is subsequently refused. The decision goes to appeal. May 1994: External inspection reveals the farm to be boarded up and mostly disused, though some farm buildings to the rear remain in use. The detached byre to the north is now half demolished. SCT understands that the house is being kept wind and watertight and will be restored at a future date. November 1994: The appeal against the refusal of demolition consent is dismissed. March 1998: A building warrant is granted for the renovation of the farmhouse into a private dwelling. March 2004: The Annandale Estate reports that it is currently preparing a revised restoration scheme.
May 2011: External inspection finds the building continues to deteriorate. The windows are now unboarded, revealing that several have broken panes of glass. The masonry has lost its paint. Listed building consent for Alterations and extensions to bring about the change of use of part of the steading to form dwellinghouse was approved conditionally, April 2009 ref: 09/P/4/0150.
August 2011: The current owners of the building contacts BAR to advise they are resident on the farm, having bought it from Annandale Estate a number of years ago. They are working with the relevant authorities to agree a restoration plan for the buildings.
11 June 2014: External inspection finds some building works appear to be underway to outbuildings, otherwise, the complex remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for alterations and change of use of part of steading to form dwelling were conditionally approved Mar/ Apr 2010 ref: 10/P/4/0008 & 10/P/4/0007.
26 July 2024: Desk-based assessment suggests the principle farmhouse remains At-Risk, some courtyard farm buildings being back in use as holiday accommodation.
