Description

3 storey L-plan mill in rubble, with slate roofs and later red brick additions. The kiln is pyramidal-roofed, whilst a red and white brick addition, rising to 2 storeys with attic, dates to 1884.

Development History
September 1994: SCT receives information that the mill was purchased about 4 years ago by a private restorer who gained Outline Planning Permission for a conversion, although nothing has transpired and the mill continues to deteriorate. 23 April 1999: The Arbroath Herald reports on the mill's inclusion in the Buildings at Risk Bulletin. May 1999: Agents for the owner report that he is considering options for the restoration and future use of the mill, and has entered discussions with local planners and architects. 16 July 1999: The Arbroath Herald reports that plans for the mill's conversion into a house have been lodged with the Council. March 2001: Local planners report that conversion into a dwelling has been approved. November 2003: Local planners report that restoration works are commencing. May 2005: Local planners report that the works are still progressing.
June 2009: External inspection finds work underway for one section of the building and a steel structure has been installed. Works do not appear to be underway in the remainder of the building, and its condition is poor.
23 October 2012: External inspection finds restoration and conversion continues.
30 June 2016: External inspection finds the restoration and conversion works continue.
28 September 2022: The site is now being marketed for sale at offers over £290,000 through appointed agent Remax. The marketing particulars note the restoration has been ongoing but the site is now been sold for prospective owners to complete the conversion.
5 February 2024: Property remains under marketing for sale.
27 August 2024: Marketing details removed.
