Description
3-bay, single storey, basement and attic farmhouse. Harled with granite margins at angles and openings. Centre door and flanking windows to front have block cornices on brackets, 12-pane glazing pattern; pair of canted dormers to front, straight skews, ashlar end stacks, slate roof. Large U-plan steading to rear of same date. Coursed rubble slated roofs on long ranges, partly re-roofed in asbestos on cross range. Detached single storey range to east, Tudor estate style similar to Monymusk Village Square. Steep pitched roof with irregularly spaced gables to front hipped at east end, gable to west slapped to provide large opening and roof brought up to gable. (Historic Scotland)

Development History
October 1991: External inspection reveals the steading to be somewhat rundown. October 1995: External inspection reveals no change, though the steading remains in use. February 1997: The Monymusk Land Co. reports that full restoration is estimated at £500,000 and the farm is subject to vandalism. 1998: Local planners report that Monymusk Land Co. has spent £10,000 on repairs works, including the lining and ventilating of chimneys and the bricking up of windows. January 2004: Local planners report that the steading remains in poor condition with the roofs of both the east and west ranges now collapsed. May 2004: The Monymusk Land Co. reports that it remains committed to the eventual repair and reuse of all the estate buildings. November 2007: External inspection reveals the steading remains vacant and three sections of the roof have collapsed.
August 2009: The property, along with the farmhouse, is being marketed for sale by Strutt and Parker.
October 2010: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit. The property is no longer being market for sale and Listed Building Consent and Full Planning Permission are being sought for conversion of Steading and Associated Out-Buildings to form 3 No. Dwellinghouses and 1 No. Business Unit

21 August 2013: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as the previous site visit. Tree growths have increased since the last visit in 2010. Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for conversion to form business units were conditionally approved ref: APP/2010/0615 & APP/2010/0780
18 February 2016: Braehead Farmhouse, with the associated steading and 27 acres of land, is being marketed for sale at offers over £450,000 through agents Savills.
22 April 2016: A member of the public advises the property is understood have been sold to new owners.
1 February 2019: Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for restoration, extension and conversion of the bothy (within the complex) into a dwelling were conditionally approved in 2016 (APP/2016/2421 & 2), consent for reinstatement and alteration of part of the steading for storage have also been conditionally approved (APP/2016/2436 & APP/2016/2439).
