Development History
June 1995: External inspection reveals the farmhouse to be extremely ruinous, with the entire right gable having collapsed. Local planners reports that the steading lies adjacent to one of the largest limestone quarries in Scotland and regular blasting continues to weaken the structure.
July 2009: External inspection finds the farmhouse is in very poor condition. The north gable wall has collapsed. The roof has many holes in it. Windows and doors have been lost. The single storey wing(steading) is a roofless shell. Reference to older photographs shows that both the farmhouse and steading buildings have deteriorated considerably in the last decade. The quarry near to the property is scheduled for closure in near future.
9 January 2014: External inspection finds the pace of decay following the loss of the gable has appeared to have slowed. The nearby quarry remains in operation.
13 January 2023: Member of the public has informed us that the roof has now collapsed, and the remaining gable and chimney stack are leaning out away from the structure. Condition changed to ruinous.
