Development History
October 2007: External inspection shows the building to be derelict. The former retail units on the Westmuir St and Dervaig St elevations are both roller-shuttered. All the first floor windows are boarded over.
16 May 2013: External inspection finds vegetation growths have appeared on the rainwater downpipe in the Dervaid Lane elevation. Shutters have been painted with padlocks installed. Otherwise, the building remains much the same as at the last site visit.
20 November 2013: Local planners report that the Parkhead Cross THI Officer is in ongoing discussions with the owners of the building to identify a new use for the site.
13 April 2015: The owner of the ground floor of the property contacts BARR to advise they have invested approx £20,000 in a number of repairs to the ground floor unit within their ownership to bring it back into use as a retail unit, a new tenant for which is now being sought. Further restoration works have been proposed to the owner of the upper floor, but this part of the building remains disused at this time
20 July 2017: Local planners note the ground floor is back in use as a retail unit. The upper floor remains disused.
11 January 2023: Member of the public has advised us that glazing has been reinstated on the first floor. Ground floor unit remains in use, it is unclear if the upper floor has been brought back into use.
9 February 2023: External inspection finds the commercial unit along Westmuir St to be in use, although the remaining upper and rear sections do not appear to be in active use. Glazing has been reinstated above shop unit and appears intact. The rainwater goods on the east elevation show signs of failure with algae and vegetation growth. Some render has been lost on the rear north elevation. One of the roller doors on the east elevation has been damaged and there are signs of anti-social behaviour in the area. Moved to FAIR condition to reflect the reinstatement of glazing.
