Description

Former laird's house/ farmhouse, with stone slate roof and some surviving internal features, converted in the 1960s for use as a grain dryer. The current owners have been farming on this site since 1883.

The OS Name Book 1868-71 notes the property as "An extensive farmsteading the property of the Right Hon. [Honourable] the Earl of Seafield".

The architect Alister Morrison, who became the Burgh architect for Rothes, grew up on the neighbouring Hillhead farm, later managing Dykeside as well. (Dictionary of Scottish Architects).

Development History
June 2008: External inspection finds the building to be in very poor condition, the roof is in very poor condition. The building does appear to be structurally sound but alternative uses for it are constrained due to its close proximity to the other farm buildings.
5 September 2012: External inspection finds holes have started appearing in the roof.
14 July 2015: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously.
