Description

Large double lectern dovecot. Rubble red, Bourhouse sandstone, formerly harled. 32' x 16' in plan. String course. S ELEVATION: 2 segmentally arched doorways with small openings above. Crowstepped division at centre of grey slated roof, broken horizontally at mid-point with row of 34 flight holes. Pointed arched openings above string courses to E and W crowstepped elevations. Blank rear. INTERIOR: dividing wall 3' thick; lower part given ceiling at 8', formerly used as stable. One of the largest dovecots in East Lothian (ref; Historic Scotland)

Development History
June 2008: External inspection finds the doocot in fair condition but the roof deterioration may threaten the structural integrity and the vegetation growth is likely to accelerate stone damage.
June 2011: External inspection finds deterioration is evident, but at a relatively slow pace.
20 December 2012: Local planners report the building remains at risk.
8 October 2014: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously.
