Description

6-bay rectangular-plan former classical Masonic Hall. Polished red ashlar. Base course; ground floor cill course; central band course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course; double pilasters rising from ground floor cill course framing 2nd and 6th bays; strip pilasters divide bays within; banded rustication within; Ionic capitals; architraved openings.

Former Masonic hall, currently in use as a night-club (1999), notable for its use of strong classical detailing and dominating height in Nile Court. (Historic Scotland)

Development History
November 2009: External inspection reveals that the building is vacant but in a reasonable state of repair. A for sale sign is affixed to the building.
March 2012: External inspection finds the building continues to deteriorate. The dampness of the walls appears to be increasing. Flat surfaces are green and bushes are taking hold. Some windows and cills are in poor condition.
11 September 2014: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Some plant growth has established at the western end of the building.
26 July 2024: Local planner advises that the building remains in much the same condition as previously seen. Plant growth has become established within the gutters and parapets to the front elevation, and all window openings on the front elevation have been boarded up.
