Description
3 storey, 9 bays coursed rubble buildings with irregular frontage. Large entrance at the East end of the North elevation. Appears as a roofless building on the 1st edition (1;2:500 series) OS map, but is roofed by the 2nd edition.
A photograph in the Johnston Collection (JN20150B001) circa 1920s, shows the warehouse with a piended roof in which a row of small rooflights are evident along the front elevation. The late 19th century fish market sits in the foreground. May have been a former cooperage or herring yard. Wick grew rapidly during the 19th century to become the largest herring port in Europe.
