Description
Public hall designed and built by Glasgow's Office of Public Works in 1922-25. Red brick construction with grey ashlar entrance porch and dressings. Designed as one of a pair of buildings alongside the adjacent public library. The building was badly damaged by fire in May 2008, with the demolition of the majority of the building, including the hall, following soon afterwards to leave only the front entrance facade remaining.

Development History
11 December 2013: A site visit was made to this building by the GCC Buildings at Risk Officer.
18 February 2014: A desk based assessment was made of this building following nomination and receipt of images from the GCC Buildings at Risk Officer. The building was found to be in extremely poor condition, with the front facade supported by structural steel props to the rear, with the rest of the building demolished. The building was placed at At Risk upon the Register.
17 October 2017: The Architects' Journal website reports that Shettleston Housing Association is looking for an architect to create 20 affordable homes in the building. The refurbishment contract has been put out to tender with a deadline of 13 November 2017.
17 August 2022: A member of the public advises that the housing scheme has yet to be implemented and the site remains unused.
9 February 2023: External inspection finds that the site remains undeveloped and continues to deteriorate. There is vegetation growth on the remaining masonry and grows densely around the site. The supporting props appear intact but aging. There has been further loss and vandalism of windows. The surrounding area appears to be secure and fenced off.
