Development History
9 June 2014: External inspection finds the former school long-term disused. Significant damp penetration into the basement level is evident. Many windows are smashed and unprotected from vandalism. Some of the broken windows have been subsequently boarded up. Rainwater goods are generally intact but there are some localised failures and blockings. Full Planning Permission for Use of former primary school (Class 10) as managed business/studio space (Class 4), formation of two entrances/stair towers and external alterations was conditionally approved 2012 ref: 12/01433/DC
19 January 2017: The building has been recognised as a good example of a large city board school and designated a listed building, category B.
11 January 2023: Member of the public has advised that the building remains disused and upper floor windows have been broken. Ground floor and basement openings are secured.
7 June 2023: External inspection finds the buildings to be in similar condition to previous field visit. The exposed glazing continues to be vandalised, with broken windows allowing for water and bird ingress. There is mature vegetation growth on the western entry pavilion. It appears that the rainwater goods continue to fail and that damp remains an issue, especially at the basement level. The doors are covered and appear secure. Damaged security fencing is lying on the ground near the east elevation of the rear annex.
