Abbotshall Infant School, Ramsay Road, Kirkcaldy

Single storey, 3-bay former infant school with 3-gabled elevation and cupola. Rock-faced squared and snecked rubble with polished long and short quoins. Eaves course. Segmental-headed doorway, stylised battlemented parapet, stone transoms and mullions.

Although no longer used as an infant school, the building continues to be used by Fife Council for educational purposes. (Historic Scotland)

31 December 2014: Nominated by local planners for the Register. The former infant school is not thought to have been in use since closure around 20 years ago. Fife Today reported (11/9/2014) on the sale of the site, alongside the neighbouring school building, to developers Brel Properties who were reported to be undertaking small repairs and tidying the overall site.

24 July 2018: External inspection finds this property vacant and overall in poor condition. Signage has been erected highlighting that the roof, walls and floor are unsafe. There are slipped slates and vegetation growths on the roof. The timber louvered cupula is in need of repair. The rainwater goods, doors and walls are in need of repair. Windows and doors are boarded up. Vegetation growth throughout the grounds. Moved to At Risk.

17 August 2022: Fife Today reported (14/08/2022) on a fire at the former Abbotshall school campus. The extent of damage at the site is not known.
