Description

Single storey 3-bay cottage that is part of a rectangular-plan range. Harl-pointed sandstone rubble; cream sandstone dressings. Rubble quoins; droved cream sandstone margins; timber-mullioned bipartites; projecting cills. Lying-pane timber sash and case windows (glazing predominantly broken); small rooflights. Grey slate roof; stone-coped skews; cast-iron rainwater goods. Regularly spaced, corniced, brick-built ridge and apex stacks; cans missing. Empty 1998. It is assumed that prior to the formation of the garage opening, this range originally comprised 3 3-bay cottages, each with central entrances, like the adjacent, modernised and inhabited block (Historic Scotland)

March 2009: External inspection reveals that the cottage is vacant and in a derelict condition. The glazing is generally missing and the timber frames appear to be rotten. The rubble walls are damaged in places with large holes and substantial gaps in the masonry.
