Row of Cottages, Main Street, Glencoe

Row of single storey cottages, with gable end to street, with corrugated iron roof. Windows replaced, probably all doors too. Original window in rear, later chimney at street gable. The row appears on the 1st edition (six inch series) OS map.

August 2009: Nominated by a member of the public as possible example of vernacular style of building.

November 2011: External inspection finds the tin roof is very rusted, the buildings have lost their lime wash/ render. Water penetration and moss growth are evident particularly at ground level. Some walls are collapsing near doorways. There is significant vegetation growth on chimneys. Windows have been replaced and some significant cement repairs have been carried out.

31 May 2013: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous visit. The buildings appear to be in use as storage and some maintenance is being carried out.

22 February 2018: External inspection finds vegetation has been cleared to the rear elevation. Otherwise, the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously.

23 February 2024: Desk-based assessment suggests the building remains At-Risk.
